Dear Thraemoor Neighbors,

We wanted to send a quick and gentle announcement that a bear was recently spotted in our neighborhood. Our neighbors at the west end of Lakeridge brought this to our attention and they have been seeing the bear over the past few days. We have received reports of trash cans being riffled through even in our immediate area.

As members of a beautiful Front Range community, sharing our environment with local wildlife is part of the experience, but it's always good to stay aware and take a few simple precautions to keep both our families and the wildlife safe.

Here are a few quick tips to keep in mind:

• Keep pets close: Please be cautious when letting your pets out, especially during dawn and dusk. Keep a close eye on them when they are in the yard.

• Secure your trash: Keep trash and recycling bins inside your garage or in a secure location until the morning of pickup to avoid attracting hungry visitors.

• Remove attractants: Consider temporarily bringing in bird feeders and ensuring BBQ grills are clean of food residue.

• Keep doors and windows secure: Make sure ground-level windows and doors are closed or securely screened.
